With Karlatornet in Gothenburg takes a step closer to New York! Gothenburg, which is quite a small city in worldly terms, has received its first luxurious skyscraper. This skyscraper also offers a super exclusive penthouse, if you have 70 million to spare. These are the price ranges we are talking about for the upper floors of the skyscraper. The whole project has inspiration taken directly from New York, which gives that exclusive big city feeling.
Karlatornet is an impressive building with 245 meters above the ground and is not only Gothenburg’s first skyscraper, but also the tallest building in the entire Nordic region. Of all Swedish architecture, this may be one of the best buildings ever!
Karlatornet in Gothenburg
The tower is designed by world-renowned Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), which is also behind the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the new One World Trade Center in New York. The floor plans in the twelve unique top floors, known as Penthouse, are behind the award-winning Andreas Martin Lööf, while the interior design is by interior designer Maria Kangärde.
The internationally renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill has won many prestigious awards. In 2014, together with the Danish architectural firm Entasis, they won the competition for who would get to design the Karlatornet.

An incredibly exciting project in little Gothenburg is the tall skyscraper Karlatornet. It’s just a shame that the prices are so extremely high, because not many people are stuck with the high sums to shell out. But us mere mortals may have to settle for staying at a hotel and going to the SPA. Then you get a little closer to Karlatornet’s luxury, if only a little.
